Happy 4th of July!!
We hope everyone had a great 4th of July. The kids loved doing sparklers and fireworks in the yard, more than they enjoyed the big ones going off in the sky.

One of our family traditions is to go to the 4th of July parade. Here the kids are all ready for the parade.
My kids actually are terrified of clowns, but this one was making balloon animals for them. So they didn't seem to mind her too much.
Uncle Sam on the other hand did terrify them. He towered above them on his tall stilts.
My kids also love to see people in costumes, but they will not get close to them. So here we are visiting Spiderman. (some stranger's kid) This is as close as they would get. (they are hiding behind my back as I take this picture)
Here the family is watching the parade.
Here we are with many of our friends having a 4th of July potluck and waiting for the fireworks. The Forts always save a sweet spot for everyone to meet at and have a fun evening complete with good games, contests, good food, and great friends!
The kids love playing with so many of their friends in one spot. We have become like a big family. We are blessed to have such great friends.
Here is Paul hanging with the Delange brothers.
Paul was really pretty tired and wanted to stay home and watch the fireworks on tv. He is a nice guy and gave into me wanting to go watch them in person.
As we were sitting in the long lines of traffic to drive home, I asked the kids if next year if they wanted to come watch the fireworks again or if they wanted to watch them on tv. They said they want to watch them on tv. Oh well, I guess 3-1 Paul wins. We can watch them on tv next year. Hopefully the kids will have forgotten how loud the fireworks are by next year and be back on my side. I still want to go to hang out with friends even if we don't stay for the fireworks. =)
We had a great 4th of July and we are so grateful for the free country that we live in and for those that continue to protect our freedoms.
=)
Here is a Jacob and some of the boys I found sprinting away from our group. Comes to find out they weren't trying to escape, they were just trying to rescue their frisbee from the bushes.

The fireworks were so much fun! Seth used to protest them and I would take Makena by myself to the mall parking lot with random people, but it is so much more fun with friends, food, and sitting in the grass! Thanks for helping me out yesterday!
