Camping at Brazos Bend

Last weekend our ward had its first ward camp out and Brazos Bend State Park.  We had a very good turn out, and we had lots of fun playing with all our friends and camping.  One of our family's favorite activities is camping!

Here is Jacob testing out his sleeping quarters.  Unfortunately he woke up several times in the night.  So Jake and I didn't get much sleep, but we still had lots of fun.
Here is Hannah taking a walk to see the alligators with her friend Avery.  The lakes at the at park are full of alligators, but they have never had an incident or had any of the alligators come into the campground.
Here is Jacob with one of his favorite babysitters, Kate.
The kids had so much fun playing in the tent.  This is Hannah and Christine.
The trees looked really cool covered in moss.  It definitely  wasn't camping in the west, but it was fun to see what camping in swamp land was all about.

The kids had fun hunting Easter eggs on the campground.

Here is one of the alligators.  They just laid around by the walking path.  Most of them were pretty motionless.

One of the alligators did climb out of the water and started making really loud growling sounds.  We came to find out it was just his mating call.

There was one alligator who had about 40 or more babies.  She was just swimming sideways and then turned and stared at Jennifer and I for quite a while.  Then she snapped her jaws very loudly at us.  Needless to say, it scared us both enough that we jumped to the other side of the path.  The park ranger said that she was just warning us.  After that I'd had enough excitement with the alligators.

Our first family camp out in a tent in Texas was successful.  Hopefully we are able to do it again soon before it gets too hot!

The campout sounds like it was a lot of fun! Wish we could have been there!
